360° Fitness Coaching for Super-Personal Training

360° Fitness Coaching for Super-Personal Training

What does it mean to be truly physically fit? Is it about how much weight you can bench or leg press? Or how long you can walk on a treadmill or ride on an exercycle?

It’s easy to see that these are two limited aspects of physical fitness. But they’re the overwhelming focus of most gyms and fitness centers. Just look at how much real estate weight- and aerobic-training machines occupy in these facilities. But if you want to take your game to a higher level, developing cardiorespiratory capacity and muscular endurance alone won’t do it. You’re leaving out too many fitness dimensions.

The Twelve Dimensions of 360° Fitness Coaching

There are 12 fitness dimensions that determine your fitness level. 360° Fitness Coaching™ (360°FC™) addresses them all. Six are health-related, and six are skill-related.

360° Fitness Coaching Dimensions
Health-Related Fitness Dimensions Skill-Related Fitness Dimensions
  1. Cardiorespiratory Fitness—ability to perform moderate-to-vigorous movement for a prolonged time.
  2. Muscular Fitness—muscular strength (how much you can lift) and muscular endurance (how many times you can lift it).
  3. Flexibility—the ability to move your joints through their complete range of motion (ROM), pain free.
  4. Body Composition—relative % of muscle, fat, bone, and H2O in your body.
  5. Vital Signs—pulse, blood pressure, body temperature, and respiratory rate.
  6. Neuromotor Skills—capacity to shift your base of support and center of mass in response to outside cues.
  1. Agility—ability to change your body position in space with speed and accuracy.
  2. Balance—maintenance of equilibrium while stationary or moving.
  3. Reaction Time—time elapsed between stimulation and the beginning of your response to it.
  4. Coordination—ability to use senses such as sight and hearing in concert with multiple body parts to perform tasks smoothly and accurately.
  5. Power—the rate at which your muscles can perform work.
  6. Speed—your ability to perform a movement within a short period of time.

360°FC is a Super-Personalized Training System

360°FC is a way of training that’s more complete, fun, and varied than traditional fitness training. It expands the definition of what constitutes physical fitness. It can also be used as an assessment tool and guide for designing more tailormade personal training programs.

A 360°FC assessment can be conducted in your home, at a local park or school, and even online. It requires minimal equipment, as most protocols use bodyweight exercises, and it can be completed in 1-to-2 hours max. Knowing your 360°FC score is a precise way to establish your total fitness baseline and monitor incremental improvements.

The Physical and Psychological Benefits of 360°FC

Most fitness programs are essentially maintenance plans. Workouts are designed to keep your fitness levels more-or-less where they’re at. There’s also too much emphasis on training individual muscles, which leads to a focus on single-joint, one-dimensional movements. But that’s not how the human body works. You generally move many muscles and joints at once, in coordinated, curved or elliptical patterns—not like a robot. That’s why 360°FC focuses on training new ways of moving, not on individual muscles.

Don’t worry that 360°FC training will be full of hard or painful drills and exercises. If anything, the opposite is true. 360°FC pinpoints your position on the fitness spectrum and meets you there. You don’t need to have sore muscles and feel fatigued all the time to be fit. If that’s what you’re experiencing, your current program needs rethinking.

360°FC includes many more fitness activities than high-repetition weight training and aerobic conditioning, so it’s more fun and mentally stimulating. Your program will incorporate movements from sports, gymnastics, track & field, playground games, dance, yoga, Pilates, plyometrics, tai chi chuan, qigong, martial arts, and more. You will learn to move in more dynamic ways, under control, and gain a sense of confidence, flow, and body mastery.

Take Your Integrative Fitness to the Next Level

Why settle for actualizing only 45° or 90° of your physical fitness capacity? You were designed to tap all 360°! You will move better, feel better, look better, and even think better as a result. That’s why upping your 360°FC score will also promote a leap in your wellbeing and quality of life, enabling you to perform at a higher level personally and professionally. And don’t forget that decades of medical research have proven time and again that the greater your overall fitness levels, the longer you’re likely to live—and do so disease-free. Please call, text, or email me to learn more about 360°FC. It will be a moving experience.
